Table Cloths Made From a Cotton Handkerchief

My mom made 4 table cloths for the coffee shop from a single handkerchief and she did not take pictures while she worked, sorry. I bought a one brown cotton handkerchief in Hobby Lobby for .99 and she added the orange 1/8 ribbon trim around edge. She made the new table cloths to resemble the design of the original ones that came with the tables with the red and white check pattern with the elastic band to hold them tightly around the table. These tables sets were originally white if you remember I spray painted them and removed the fabric. http://jocelynsdollhouse.blogspot.com/2012/06/coffee-bar-tables-and-chairs.html I removed the elastic from one of the original table cloths and she used it as a pattern to cut out the circles and then ran a seam around the edges. She used elastic thread made for smocking to make them fit like the original table cloths. (I don't sew at all, so I hope it makes sense) I used some scrap vinyl that looked like brown leather and textured felt, glued wooden circles to both fabrics and cut them out for seat cushions.

  1. Jocelyn,
Your room looks like so many coffee houses I have visited. I had to look closer because I thought it was human sized. Actually, I had to look more than once. LOL It looks great!

  2. I like it very much its starting to look like a real coffee house. the ones I used to go to when I lived in california usually had some funky art up on the walls or band flyers

    Marisa :)
