I got the bakery/coffee shop dollhouse back this week, so I wanted to show some pictures of furniture I finished but never posted. I finally decided on the finish for the bar and counter I made from scratch for the coffee shop. http://jocelynsdollhouse.blogspot.com/2012/03/scratch-built-dollhouse-bar-counter-and.html and stools http://jocelynsdollhouse.blogspot.com/2012/03/scratch-built-bar-stools.html. I painted it with brown hammered metal spray paint and I left the counter tops unfinished to match the interior trim. I added the mirrors with the etched design from Michaels to the back of the bar. I will add a battery operated light above the bar later. I also made a coffee table and a side table from wooden candle sticks and circles for the sitting area. I will accent the furniture with gold acrylic paint I used on the interior trim.
This is a scrapbook of the building and decorating of my dream dollhouse, the Mountfield Dollhouse by the Dolls House Emporium, and other added dollhouses.

Update: Coffee Shop Painted Bar and Counter

Semi-Scratch Build Kitchen Island
I decided that I needed to updated my kitchen. I started playing around with the idea of the making an island trying to find something to use as a guide, I grabbed my discarded counter from the bakery. It was white and I like the bottom but I needed to match the black counter tops in the rest of the kitchen. I had a small block of MDF, so I spray pained it black but the only black I had was hammered black, so I decided to go for it anyway. I don't know what kind of stone or finish this is but I like the results. I moved the table to the laundry room and moved the washer and dryer to the area underneath the stairs, which used to be the small artist studio.
I moved that equipment into Jada's room until I finish the small dollhouse I bought a while back to use as an art studio.

A Window for the Mountfield Attic Master Suite
I got brave and finally added a window to the attic master suite. I have not painted it yet, I am undecided about using the mushroom color like the other windows or earth brown like the trim on the roof. I needed to add more lights now that you can see inside the room, I only had the lamp and no lights in the bathroom.

Getting Ready For the Mini Holiday Season!
I did some shopping for the holiday season, starting with Thanksgiving dinner! I had the deserts already and the soup dish, candle sticks and salt and pepper shakers.
Then on to Michaels who had a great sale on the Christmas Village stuff 50% off, so I bought a decorated tree regular price $5.99 that I am going to use the mini lights on that have, which I bought last year on sale. I also bought mini ornaments that looked like presents that were already just $1.99 to put around the tree.
I forgot that I bought this set of folding tables and chairs which were literally in my dollhouse garage in a box. It will be the kids table of course!
My New China Cabinet
I love this cabinet from HBS/miniatures.com and it was at a discount! I accidentally bought two but I really want to keep the other one too. I really don't have anything nice yet to put inside but here is how it looks with a few things in it. It matches the table and the sideboard that I already have, I hate that it has to sit sideways so that you really don't get the full view. I have another house I am planning to buy for my new family, that's why I am keeping the other one. My idea is to do the same dollhouse family but in different generations, so this piece will be seen in the older generation's dollhouse and in this house of the great, great, granddaughter, the matching pieces may go with it as well.
