I didn't want to wait too long to make another post, so here is my progress so far. This courtyard will be used at the back of the New Orleans style dollhouse I am working on. I used the same coach lights I used on the front facade. I wired the lights to the ceilings of the two buildings and then ran wires to the outer wall which is going to be covered with a moss sheet. I put together the fountain kit I bought from miniatures.com and sprayed a base coat of black used for high heat. I am still working on the bricks and stone pavers, however I did add grout lines which helped them look more realistic. I think I want to age the courtyard a little bit.
This is a scrapbook of the building and decorating of my dream dollhouse, the Mountfield Dollhouse by the Dolls House Emporium, and other added dollhouses.

Lighted Creole Townhouse Courtyard

Amazing! Are you going to arrange the buildings into a little town?
ReplyDeleteI plan on placing the courtyard behind the townhouse dollhouse, so that when you look through the carriage way opening you can see the courtyard. I may also place the hat shop next to the townhouse as well.
DeleteBeautiful! It looks like a real courtyard.
ReplyDeleteI must know - how did you get such perfectly-cut arches? Even with power tools, I can't cut anywhere near that neatly.
I did use a band saw (actually it was the first time I used one) to cut the arches. I cut them like a draw curves, I turned the board or moved my body along the outside of the board to follow the cut of the arch.
DeleteYour work is just beautiful! So inspirational. Thanks for sharing your talents.
ReplyDeleteI hope you can see this...
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw it I immediately thought of your courtyard!

Yes it does have some of the same elements
DeleteI think it's wonderful! when I look through the arches it's like you are actually there in New Orleans!
