Updated: Mountfield Garage

I am "stuck" in my progress on the Creole Townhouse, so I decided to start work again on the garage. http://jocelynsdollhouse.blogspot.com/2011/10/dollhouse-garage.html I made a tool rack by drilling holes in a square dowel, allowing me to both display and remove the tools. I cut it to fit snug between the two support beams without glue, just in case. I made a shallow work bench because a deeper one wouldn't accommodate the sports car that I have. I used a piece of cork and scrap wood to create the tool rack. The bike hanging on the wall is a 3D sticker. The basketball goal is from a chip bowl that I bought on clearance. I have coach lights to match the house and plan to buy battery operated lights for the inside. Everything was rolling along until it happened... I remembered why I stopped working on the garage, the DOORS!!! I couldn't get them to move smoothly up and down the tracks. I read somewhere that someone had used soap, maybe I am slow but I didn't get how to use it as a lubricant. The doors seem very delicate, which is why I was considering leaving them in the open position permanently. But considering how much the extra door cost, it seemed like a waste of money not to be able to open and close the doors. So "stuck" again (no doors) and moving on.........?

This is what happens when you leave a bike on the ground LOL

  4. I am not sure, I didn't make it. It's a die cast car I purchased from miniatures.com on discount. Thanks for the compliments, now my husband wants me to make our garage look like this in real life. It is so much easier in miniature!

  5. I have heard of using soap as a lubricant for draws in real life projects. You need to rub the soap in the channels of the door like you would with draw runners. I would probably use a natural soap because I would worry about staining. Maybe check on some wood that is similar. IndyPoppy

  6. So that is what a garage is supposed to look like! LOL So very real in your choice of what you put in there.
I can't believe that bike is a sticker!
