So it was worth it...
This is the future home of my dollhouse display/studio room. |
The "mini" withdrawal was setting in bad yesterday, so I decided to create a small quick project. I saw the peddler cart on miniatures.com for $59.00 and I thought I challenge myself to make one for less.
I used the sides and extended the base of the wagon with a long wood plank.
I made two handles from small clothes pins.
I then cut off one side of the clothes pin and glued two to the base of the wheel.
I made a canopy top from another plank and added square dowels to the top. I glued on some left over trim around the edges.
I cut posts from the wood dowels and glued them to the wagon base and wood appliqués along the outside of the wagon.
I glued a dowel in-between the posts along the top, I plan to hang flowers underneath.
I wanted the wheels to turn so I used what I had from the my wood bin. (This is not the best way to do this but it worked). I used sticks and blocks with holes to make the axles for wheels and glued the middle block on a wooden square dowel to give the height I needed. I glued one block on the wheel, but not the stick inside the block in the middle to allow the stick to turn inside to rotate the wheel.
I covered the end with a scrap of wood, I will probably add numbers to it like a tag
I have not decided how I want to paint it yet. So update pictures to come later.
